Named jobs

The fob that wouldn't program, and the man who fixed the old one instead.

Customers don't thank “the locksmith”. They thank Danny, Shaun and Dustin, and they describe the job. Here are four of them, in the customers' own words.

Auto · key fob

A 2005 fob, and a replacement bought online that wouldn't program.

Danny rebuilt the original instead: new rubber contact pad, then it programmed.

“He took time to explain why the purchased fob wasn’t working and tried several times to program. However, the original fob, he replaced the rubber piece inside with one that had new contacts on the back and was able to program it!”
Stephen Rountree, 5 stars on Google
Auto · no start

A car that wouldn't start.

Shaun traced it to the key, not the car.

“What stood out most was how confident and knowledgeable they were in identifying that the key was the issue causing my car not to start.”
Joshua Alvarez, 5 stars on Google
Auto · immobilizer

A 2011 VW Jetta: new ignition switch assembly, immobilizer still refusing.

Towed to the shop on a strap. Left with two working fobs and two door keys.

“Yakima Lock & Safe worked with me, letting me know what I could do and cost options. Ultimately ended up dragging the car down on a tow strap to their business and they got me taken care of. Really appreciate the communication and quick work.”
Gage Clayton, 5 stars on Google
Auto · lockout

Locked out, fob dead, push-button start.

Talked through it on the phone until the car started.

“He told me all the possible locations to unlock a car how to manually start it with a push button in car was able to find it and start my car how to reset the key very informative.”

“Dustin is AMAZING!! You need a company you can trust, call Yakima lock and safe EVERYTIME.”

Yes. The walk-in shop on Nob Hill keeps office hours, Monday to Friday 9 to 5, but the emergency mobile service runs 24/7. Call (509) 248-1124 and a locksmith comes to your home, business or car.

Usually, yes. The shop can cut keys by code and program transponder chips and remotes, so a new key can be made without the original. Bring the car in, or call and the mobile service comes to you.

Bring it and the car to the shop. Many bought fobs are the wrong chip or frequency for the car. Sometimes the fix is your original fob: one customer's 2005 fob was brought back to life by replacing the worn rubber contact pad, then it programmed.

If the locks work and you like them, rekeying is enough: the pins inside are changed so the old keys stop working and new keys do. Replace when a lock is worn, damaged, or you want a higher-security or keyless upgrade.

Yes. Master key systems and rekeys for whole buildings are a specialty, along with restricted keyways, panic bars, fire exit hardware and door closers. Commercial estimates are free: call (509) 248-1124.

Yes. The shop sells and services safes and vaults, changes combinations, opens locked safes, and moves and installs heavy safes with its own van and trailer.
